Congratulations!

Late last year, the girls learned of a sponsorship opportunity from the Michigan Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association. This came up just as we received our invite to the CREATE US Open when we won Excellence at Lapeer. As a self funded independent team, this opportunity presented itself just in time. The girls filled out the application, explaining our role in teaching girls STEM principles while competing at robotics events, even explaining this being our 5th year and bringing up how we also mentor elementary students as well. Well, the results came in and WE RECEIVED THE SPONSORSHIP! Congratulations, girls! Michigan NDIA is sending us the sponsorship to help cover the costs of our registration to attend OUR 5TH YEAR AT THE CREATE US OPEN! Thank you so much for your assistance in our efforts to help girls get represented in the STEM fields and further their education.

From the MI-NDIA Website:
The U.S. is not developing the engineering students that we need in order to compete as an innovative country. The skill level in science and math for students completing high school has decreased, and there are not enough U.S. students that are interested in the STEM fields to maintain our competitive edge in a global economy.

The NDIA Michigan Chapter has made it a top priority to support K-12 and college students through collaborating, sponsoring, and hosting events that excite young people in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The NDIA Michigan Chapter is working to be part of the solution by engaging the local educational community and coordinating activities for NDIA members and organizations.

Update for Event 4b – 2nd Nissan League day- January 13, 2019

For everyone’s info, the second league event on January 13th is at Notre Dame High High School, not Nissan Technical Center. Because of this, there is a limited amount of space available for teams. As such, there is priority being given to teams that could not make the December event, or teams that can’t make the upcoming event on January 27th. We don’t have any planned absences, so our attendance will be determined by a drawing next week. So…

I don’t know if we will be attending the Nissan event on January 13th. I hope to know by the 10th and when I get info, I’ll pass along as soon as I get it. Please check the the website and our team Group-me posts for further info.
